Program details
The program is either Tai Chi 24 Form or Tai Chi 40 Form, with Ba Duan Jin Qi Gong (Eight Section Brocade) taught as a warm-up exercise before both forms. Beginner to Intermediate levels welcome.
Opening hours:
Classes are run on Wednesday from 9:30a.m to 10:30a.m but you should arrive at about 9:15.
In 2024, 40 Form will run from 7th February to 26th June, inclusive. 24 Form will run from 4th September to 20th November, inclusive.
There will be no classes from 3rd July to 28th August, inclusive.
It is important that you do not just turn up at the RSL without having registered for the class first. If you have not registered, you might not be able to stay for the class.
Cost:
Cost per term: Casual rate is $20 per session. $15 per session if paid in full at first session attended. Newcomers can pay the casual rate for the first two/three weeks then choose whether to pay in full. The amount already paid is deducted from the full cost.
Target age:
50 Plus, Most people are over 65 but people under 65 are welcome. We have people in the 50 to 60 age group and occasionally under 50
Participants who would not be suitable for the program:
Depending on their degree of impairment, people with dementia or cognitive problems would have difficulty. People with walking aids would need to be able to stand and move without their aid to do the full program, although they would have some benefit from sitting and doing the arm movements and Tai Chi breathing. Post-surgery people and anyone with any health concerns should consult their doctor first. Also they are encouraged to discuss their problems with our instructor before beginning.
Special requirements or conditions:
Participants should wear loose-fitting clothes (e.g track suit) and flat shoes (joggers or similar but not thongs or sandals). Bare feet are also acceptable. Free water is available at the RSL and participants are encouraged to have a drink as needed.

Members of the RSL must have their membership card with them. Non-members are encouraged to join the RSL.
