Program details
This is a 7-week falls prevention program, held on Wednesday mornings at Ryde Hospital Community Aged care & Rehabilitation Service (CAReS).
Sessions are 2 hours long and include:
- 1 hour balance and functional exercise circuit with modified Tai Chi
- 1 hour Falls education session (varying topics)
The aim of the program is to help embed functional exercises into your daily routine, improve your balance and educate on how to reduce your risk factors for falling over.
The sessions are conducted by the CAReS multidisciplinary team (MDT).
A My Aged Care referral is required for the Dietitian.
Opening hours:
Wednesday 9:30 - 11:30 am
Individual physiotherapy sessions prior to Balance Group for assessment of mobility and balance and establishment of home exercise program.

Target age:
65 Plus
Participants who would not be suitable for the program:
- Those with moderate dementia.
- Participants must pass a balance screening by a Physiotherapist
Special requirements or conditions:
Clients should wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
