Program details

Active exercise classes are designed for adults wanting to challenge their fitness levels with a fun freestyle aerobic routine, followed by weights and stretching.

Exercise classes focus on improving cardiovascular fitness, strength (using hand weights, resistance bands & body weight) flexibility, range of motion, balance & endurance.

Monday 9.25am Strength $15

Monday

8.30am Active Cardio Exercise Class $15 per class

Active class begins with a cardio warm up and then approximately 30 minutes of aerobic exercises or an aerobic routine to increase your fitness level, endurance and heart rate. Cool down with a  gentle standing stretch.

 

9.25am Active Strength Class $15 per class

Strength class begins with 5 min warm up, followed by  30 minutes of strengthening exercises focused on increasing muscle mass, strength and bone density. These exercises may include squats, lunges, knee lifts, leg extension, leg curls, side and back leg lifts.  Balance exercises including single leg movements, tandem stance, opposite arm to leg movement patterns, foam mat or chi ball under foot etc.

This will be followed by 10-15minutes of Pilates Matwork exercises for the abs and back,  then a cool down stretch. 

 

10.30am Gentle Exercise Class $15 per class

10minute Gentle aerobic warm up with movements to music, co-ordinating arms/legs and different movement patterns. These movements will include transfer of weight and directional changes to improve balance. 

30minutes of strengthening exercises including sit to stand, seated leg extension, squats, lunges, knee lifts, leg lifts/extensions/curls, heel raises, Bicep curls, front/side raises, rows, triceps and rotator/lateral arm movements. Balance exercises with tandem stance, single leg lifts, heel toe walking etc.

10minutes of cooling down exercises and stretches either seated or on the floor.

 

Thursday 8.30am Pilates Plus Matwork  $25 per class @ Menai Salvation Army Church

Focus on strengthening the core muscles of the body to improve posture through a gentle but effective program for all ages & levels of fitness.

Dementia/cognitive impairment, post surgery and walking aids.
