Program details
Southern NSW LHD provides Falls and Frailty Prevention group programs for eligible individuals.
This program is a group exercise and education program designed specifically for older adults living at home, who are considered 'moderate' risk of falls and/or frailty.
Participants attend once a week, in their local Physiotherapy department, for eight weeks.
Each session involves:
- 50 minutes of exercise, including leg and arm strengthening, balance and challenging mobility activities.
- 20 minutes of education regarding healthy ageing, falls prevention and frailty education.
Participants must complete screening and an initial assessment to ensure they are eligible to join the group.

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:
Participants must be able to:
Complete independent mobility and sit to stand, with or without gait aid.
Participate in supervised exercise safely.
Participate effectively in a group.
Speak conversational English, or have interpreter/family member present.
Special requirements or conditions:
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear to exercise in.
