Program details

Strong Seniors is a class designed for seniors living at home wishing to improve strength and endurance and improve their ability to do things they love. Minimum age is expected to be 55 years old.

This is a small group class (max 5 participants) lead by an Exercise Physiologist and/or Physiotherapist and includes:
Warm up activity: walk, exercise bike, treadmill
Strength exercises include: 
  • Sit to stand: differing heights, using added weight, offset foot placement, reach for objects with arms
  • Squat or lunge variations
  • Lifting off floor, box or step
  • Step ups: low step, box, using added weight
  • Bridges
  • Calf raise
  • Upper limb push and pull exercises while standing using functional trainer and cable resistance machines

Opening hours:

Monday to Thursday, during school terms.

Class times are scheduled according to demand.

Target age:

55 Plus

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

Participants with Parkinson's Disease are encouraged to join our specialised class, Parkside Power, for a more targeted exercise experience.
Participants at risk of falls are encouraged to join our specialised class, Strong Stable Seniors for specific fall prevention exercises.

Special requirements or conditions:

Comfortable exercise clothing and shoes, please bring a towel.
