Yoga is a perfect exercise to do in your senior years.  

It brings strength and balance to the body, quietness to the mind and calm to the emotions
For seniors who have never done yoga before, as well as those who have dabbled, or are practiced.
A gentle combination of stretches, deep breathing, and focused attention will progressively restore tone and flexibility, build muscle and bone density, and reinvigorate the whole body.  
Participants will practice poses to develop good balance, thereby avoiding falls and loss of mobility.  
Dinah provides a varied programme of balanced movements, using both sides of the body evenly, building upper body and arm strength (frequently an issue for women), and working towards greater flexibility and control throughout the body.
Classes  include strengthening routines, encouraging better circulation, as well as relaxation and visualisation exercises to promote mental positivity.
An example class could include an initial warm up and preparation, including core strength work.  This practice would then move to a standing sequence.  This would emphasise easy and progressive balances to build leg strength and self confidence.
Depending on the participants, we could also do floor work, twists, back and side bends.
At the end of a 60-75 minute class we would close with a guided visualisation to induce relaxation and a deep sense of well being.
Dinah's teaching is grounded in Iyengar yoga practices which emphasise body awareness, good positioning, and working to your own measure.  Her classes foster self care, confidence building, resilience and group support

Opening hours:

I provide classes all year round.  

Monday 3-4pm Tathra Hall, 
Numbugga  Monday evening 6.30-8pm
Numbugga Tuesday evening 6.30-8pm
Other daytime classes can be arranged for small groups.

Cost:

Cost per visit: $15-20 depending on how many class vouchers are purchased. Concession rates are available, and bursaries awarded where appropriate.

Participants who would not be suitable for the program:

These classes are not suitable for those with cognitive impairment. Please contact me to discuss any physical conditions you feel may be an issue and we will see if we can work around them!
You should see your health provider before starting a new exercise class.

Special requirements or conditions:

Participants should be able to get up and down from the floor unaided. Please wear a pair of comfortable trousers and a top , both should be stretchy enough to allow you to move freely. If you have a mat please bring it, or I have some to borrow. Please
