Program details

Strathfield Croquet Club is near to public transport, and street parking also available. The program is conducted by Coaches accredited  by our National body (Croquet Australia). Croquet is an outdoor, non-strenuous low-impact activity, and thus ideal for the over 50's age group. We are now a club with over sixty members. Our sport provides wonderful opportunities  for new players and existing members to socialise , and meet new people at our club and elsewhere. There are over 3000 players in NSW.

NSW Croquet Clubs are guided by Health advice issued by Office of Sport to our State Body-Croquet NSW. So  any Covid safey measures current at the time are updated on our club website https://.strathfieldcroquet.com

An initial two-hour session in this program, would include basic ball/mallet skills and performing mallet strokes which require balance and coordination. Brute strength is not required. Player safety is also addressed in a number of ways, such as: players need to stay alert to moving balls, other people's movements, and need to adjust their balance (static and moving). Many croquet strokes help improve coordination and can help minimise stumbles and improve gait. We can advise participants as to which games may provide better health benefits for them, and minimise concerns that new players sometimes experience, when taking up a new physical activity/sport, especially if this outdoor activity is being taken up following some health issues.

It is suggested that before coming to their first session, that the enquirer  view a U-Tube video titled:  Croquet: A hit for health. This video was commissioned by Croquet Victoria for allied Health Professionals. Its' content reflects much of what is described about a typical program for new players, and shows people playing croquet and related benefits. New players can usually within a few sessions decide whether our club pays sufficient attention to the physical, social and mental health needs of their players/members. Our Club  has produced its own video  https://www.strathfieldcroquet.com/evolution-of-croquet . This video also covers health benefits. Viewing our Website and this video as it will answer many questions one might have.
